After Joey’s death, Roiphe asks herself, “How long had it been—an hour, maybe two or three—since I had heard his first cry?” (79). Why do you think she asks herself this question?
Rophie must have asked herself that question because time seemed to go by so fast from them two doing their daily routine of him falling asleep on his side of the bed.
I guess she felt as though she did a good job caring for him being that it was the FIRST time she heard him cry.
ReplyDeleteI guess she felt remorse for not helping Joey the moment he cried and felt that the pain could've been prevented from getting a lot worst.
ReplyDeleteShe would show him too much love and hearing him cry for the first time got her thinking about if she did anything wrong.

ReplyDeleteroiphe probably felt as if she probably could of helped him sooner or maybe she feels like she rather hear him cry than not to hear him at all.
