what does the term “harvest day” refer? Why does Kingsolver think the term “harvesting”
is appropriate? What is her problem with the word “killing” in this context?
Harvest Day means a time when there's plenty of food, ready to be eaten(meat or from crops) that has been cared for, for a certain amount of time.
Harvesting is important for Kingsolver because in that way they are able to control and provide appropriate care to those animals that will be served as food later on. Killing for them is more of a ritual they can learn from.
"Harvest day" refers to the day in which they kill and gather animals. Kingsolver believes the term "harvesting" to be appropriate as opposed to "killing" because killing is associated with murder.
